Go to God in prayer daily

     Prayer is God's appointed way for obtaining things.   The great secret of all of our lacks in our experiences, in our life and in our work is the neglect of prayer. 

     "Why do I make so little progress in my Christian life?" 
     Neglect of Prayer - "You have not because you ask not."
     "Why do I see so few results from my labors?"
     Neglect of Prayer - "How much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?."
     "Why do I see so few come to Christ when I witness?"
     Neglect of Prayer - "Ask and it shall be given to you."

     If we are to have a fulfilling relationship with Jesus Christ, we must spend time in prayer, we must give ourselves to earnest, constant, persistent, overcoming prayer.  Consider the words of Jesus to his disciples...

     "Before now, you have asked nothing in my name; ask and you shall receive that your joy may be full."  John 16:24

     Who does not wish his life to be filled full and overflowing?  We all know people whose joy is filled full.  It is running over, it is shining from their eyes, bubbling out of their lips and running off their finger tips when they shake hands with you.  They are charged with gladness.  People of that sort are always people who spend much time in prayer.

     Prayer makes God real to us.  There is no greater joy in heaven or earth than communion with God.  Payer makes it happen.  So how do we pray in such a way as to gain deep and full communion with God?

Get an audience with God
     The first thing we should do when we pray is see to it that we really get into God's presence.  Before we get into praying we should have a vivid and definite consciousness that we are talking with God, and we should believe he is listening to us.  (Hebrews 4:16)

Get serious with God
     The second thing we should do when we pray is pray with earnest and intense desire.  Prayers that do not touch our heart surely do not touch the heart of God.  (Heb 5:7)

Get alone often before God
    While there is nothing sacred about the position of  kneeling, the Lordship of Christ requires that we bow our lives before him often and acknowledge that he is Lord.  We should spend important time daily with God alone.  Daniel prayed three times a day.  Every effective Christian God has ever equipped has spent much time alone with God. (Ephesians 3:14)

Get others to pray with you
     There is power in united prayer.  When the Holy Spirit lays the same burden on two hearts there is absolutely irresistible power.  Find a partner in prayer and pray with them often.  (Matt 18:19)
