Obey God, moment by moment

     I beg you brothers, because of the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.  Romans 12:1-2

     When a person crowns Jesus as his Savior, it is also an acknowledgment that He is Lord.  The Bible calls Jesus "King of kings and Lord of lords."  (Revelation 17:14)  Christians are His servants.  We were freed to follow.  We were saved to serve.  The more you love Jesus the more you will want to obey Him. 

     Just becoming a Christian does not automatically make us obedient.  We have to submit regularly to "the Lordship of Christ."  In a 1992 Gallup Poll it was discovered that "the most committed (13%) of believers are the happiest, most charitable, ethical, and concerned for a better society.  In contrast the typical "Churched" and "unchurched" don't differ greatly, except the "churched" tend to have a "brighter outlook and be more active in civic affairs."  We could have saved Mr. Gallup the time spent taking the Poll... If he would have just read John 13:17, 

     To become truly happy one must be as completely obedient as possible.  Whatever God tells you to do from His Word, the Bible, do it!   This is one of the great secrets of spiritual growth and joy.

     Make a commitment to obey God.  Renew it daily.  Every morning tell Jesus that you will follow Him wherever He leads.  When you fail, do not loose heart.  God understands your weaknesses.  He made a way for you to get back on the right path.  No matter how many times you fail, bow before God in prayer and sincerely cry out for forgiveness.  God's promise is so important to our emotional well being... "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

     What a great promise!  Not only will God forgive our confessed known sin, but He will cleanse and forgive the sins we know not that we committed against him.  Confess all known sin... and follow Jesus in obedience.
